Truedge Aspheric IOLs are made of PMMA material. It has 360° sharp edge on the posterior side of the lens and aspheric optic on anterior surface. As Advance research shows that the IOL design can play a vital role in prevention of PCO, Truedge lens are designed with 360° sharp edge on the posterior side of the lens and aspheric optic with zero aberration on the anterior side of the IOL. This sharp edge of the IOL prevents the epithelial cells migrating to the posterior side, thereby reducing the PCO (Posterior capsule opacification) rate.

  • Truedge 360° Square Edge acts as a mechanical barrier for cell proliferation.
  • Exerts 60% optimum pressure on the posterior capsule compared to round edge.
  • Excellent capsular contact allows no space for the cells to migrate.
  • Cell proliferation occurs maximum at the Optic-Haptic junction, Truedge has 360° square edge including the Haptic – Optic junction which is very difficult to achieve.
  • Truedge has a steep vault of 0.4 mm
    • Pushes the lens towards the posterior capsule
    • Capsular bag forms a cover on the posterior side of the lens.
  • Rounded anterior Edge for Reduced Glare and Glistening.
    • Rounded anterior edge reduces the intensity of internally reflected lights.
    • Study shows that glare and glistening can be greatly reduced with rounded anterior edge
  • Aberration Free Optic –Truedge aspheric does not introduce any SA to the implanted eye. It improves the contrast sensitivity in dim and low light conditions. Visual acuity remains undisturbed even during tilt and decentration of optic.
